Remote | Senior Machinist / Construction & Field Ops Lead — $55–$100/hour
Job Description:
We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced senior machinists, construction superintendents, drilling and mining professionals, field-operations leaders, and related technical experts with deep experience interpreting drawings, plans, GD&T, CNC documentation, and regulated field requirements.
Selected professionals will review advanced technical drawings and operational plans, assess their accuracy and practicality, identify missing or unclear information, and provide detailed real-world feedback grounded in shop-floor and field experience. No prior AI experience is required; practical technical judgement and the ability to explain complex decisions clearly are the primary qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Machining Drawings & GD&T Review
- Review advanced machining drawings and technical specifications
- Interpret Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing requirements
- Identify unclear, incomplete, or impractical drawing details
- Assess drawings from a real-world manufacturing perspective
- Provide detailed feedback on fit, tolerance, and production considerations
CNC Setup & Programming Analysis
- Review CNC setup and programming documentation
- Evaluate machining strategies and setup decisions
- Identify potential programming or process issues
- Explain troubleshooting approaches for common machining challenges
- Apply practical knowledge of CNC processes and shop-floor execution
Construction & Field Plan Review
- Evaluate construction plan sheets and field documentation
- Identify missing information or potential implementation issues
- Assess whether plans are clear and practical for field execution
- Apply superintendent-level judgement to complex site scenarios
- Recommend improvements based on real-world construction experience
Drilling, Mining & Regulatory Interpretation
- Interpret drilling and mine plans
- Assess plans for technical accuracy and operational feasibility
- Identify relevant regulatory or safety considerations
- Apply practical field knowledge to complex planning scenarios
- Explain how plan details translate into field execution
Fire, Building & Technical Communication
- Review fire and building plans against applicable U.S. standards
- Identify safety, compliance, or clarity concerns
- Explain technical findings in precise written form
- Communicate field and shop reasoning clearly in verbal discussions
- Contribute domain expertise grounded in authentic industry practice
Ideal Profile
- 10+ years of professional experience in a relevant technical or field discipline
- Background as a master machinist, construction superintendent, drilling engineer, mine planner, cabinetmaker, fire officer, or comparable senior practitioner
- Extensive experience interpreting technical drawings and field plans
- Strong understanding of machining drawings and GD&T
- Expertise in CNC programming, setup, and machining processes
- Experience reviewing construction plans and field-execution documentation
- Ability to interpret drilling or mining plans where relevant
- Strong familiarity with U.S. construction, fire, or mining codes and standards
- Experience reviewing fire or building plans with a safety and compliance focus
- Strong troubleshooting and practical problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to identify missing, ambiguous, or unrealistic technical information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to technically grounded work
- Comfortable working independently in a remote professional environment
- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
Engagement Details

- Compensation: $55–$100/hour
- Work will involve technical drawing interpretation, field-plan review, CNC analysis, GD&T evaluation, and operational reasoning
- Assignments may span machining, construction, drilling, mining, fire protection, and building-plan contexts
- Strong practical experience translating drawings and plans into real-world execution is central to the engagement
- Contributors will be expected to provide precise written and verbal explanations supporting their conclusions
- Project materials, technical disciplines, and review scenarios may vary depending on project requirements
- Work must be completed without using confidential, proprietary, export-controlled, classified, customer-restricted, or otherwise protected drawings, plans, programs, field documentation, or technical information belonging to any employer, client, government entity, institution, or other third party
