Job Description:

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for PhD-level chemistry professionals experienced in scientific reasoning, technical evaluation, chemistry content review, AI safety assessment, and responsible handling of sensitive scientific information.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on chemistry-focused AI safety review, expert-level prompt evaluation, scientific response assessment, structured annotation, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply advanced chemistry expertise to review technical prompts, evaluate model-generated responses, assess scientific accuracy, and provide structured feedback based on safety-focused evaluation guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Chemistry Prompt & Response Evaluation

  • Write or review expert-level prompts across specialized chemistry topics
  • Evaluate model-generated responses for scientific accuracy, clarity, helpfulness, and appropriate handling of chemistry-related content
  • Identify inaccurate explanations, unsupported claims, missing scientific context, or unsafe response patterns
  • Review technical materials across chemistry subfields such as organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, medicinal, computational chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science

Scientific Annotation & Structured Review

  • Apply structured guidelines to classify chemistry prompts, conversations, and model responses
  • Annotate technical content based on scientific accuracy, safety considerations, and project-specific review criteria
  • Provide clear written feedback explaining evaluation decisions and relevant scientific concerns
  • Maintain consistency, precision, and professional judgment across submitted review work

Chemistry Safety & Responsible Content Assessment

  • Apply sound judgment around chemical safety, security, and responsible handling of dual-use information
  • Evaluate whether chemistry-related responses appropriately manage sensitive, hazardous, or safety-relevant content
  • Support review of materials involving laboratory concepts, computational chemistry, synthesis-related reasoning, or specialized technical topics
  • Maintain a careful, safety-aware approach when reviewing scientific content and response quality

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • A completed or ongoing PhD in chemistry or a closely related field
  • Deep expertise in one or more chemistry subfields, such as organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, medicinal, or computational chemistry
  • Relevant background in chemical engineering, materials science, laboratory research, computational methods, or technical chemistry review
  • Strong scientific reasoning and excellent written communication skills in English
  • Sound judgment around chemical safety and responsible handling of sensitive scientific information
  • Ability to follow structured guidelines and apply consistent evaluation criteria
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, project-based environment

Educational Background

  • A completed or in-progress PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a closely related scientific field is expected
  • Research experience involving laboratory methods, computational techniques, synthesis, chemical analysis, safety protocols, or technical scientific writing is highly relevant
  • Prior AI or machine learning experience is optional; project workflow guidance may be provided

Nice to Have

  • Research, coursework, or professional experience related to chemical safety, chemical security, synthesis, hazardous-materials handling, or responsible scientific review
  • Experience reviewing, grading, annotating, or red-teaming technical content
  • Familiarity with evaluating scientific writing, technical explanations, research outputs, or model-generated responses
  • Experience applying structured rubrics, safety guidelines, or content classification criteria
  • Comfort working with specialized chemistry topics while maintaining accuracy, discretion, and safety-aware judgment

Why This Opportunity

  • Apply advanced chemistry expertise to structured remote project work
  • Contribute to high-quality scientific response review, chemistry safety evaluation, and technical annotation
  • Work on flexible assignments aligned with your research background and scientific judgment
  • Use your PhD-level expertise in a focused, safety-aware review environment
  • Remote structure with competitive hourly compensation
